For over a week you will live closer to the sun than you ever have before, with the freedom to capture all that it colors for your camera. Beginning in Chengdu, the hub of western China, a short flight will take you to Daocheng airport – one of the highest in the world. You will enjoy a full day in China’s Yading National Nature Reserve in the shadow of three 6000 meter giants, before turning north again until your journey at last unveils fabled Shangri-La.
A couple days in this land long sought by both explorers and romantics will be truly unforgettable. A leisurely bike ride in the Shangri-la countryside is a popular option or, if you prefer, exploring the Old Town at your own pace is recommended as well. Either way, you’ll find this to be the perfect place to relax. And of course you can capture a few more photos while you’re at it.
After a final night in Chengdu at the Shangri-al Hotel you’ll be well rested to return home with your photographs of some of the world’s most epic landscape and most photogenic people.

The saying in this rugged land, "for every valley, a different dialect" not only applies to language, but also to architecture and customs too. You'll be fascinated with the diverse ways of life represented as you ascend from the lush farming valleys to the high grasslands and thin air where nomads and their animals depend on one another for their survival.
