In September, we once again hosted 3 student groups from Leman International School (Chengdu). This year we added two more destinations to our student trip tour products: Shangri-la and Songpan.
We had the fortune of hosting five Canadian guests for a custom trip in Kham: a 5-day journey through Eastern Tibet. Although it was a short trip, the group enjoyed their time with our guide, Tsering. Here's where she took them.
On the west side of Minya Konka (Tibetan name, Gongga Mt. in Chinese) is an alpine wonderland of peaks and spires that stand on guard around their mother (Gongga Mt. – 7556m). The Minya range has up to 20 peaks that reach 6000m or higher. Their lush valleys, snow peaks, alpine lakes and rivers create a veritable playground for trekking in Tibet (and yaks too). No special permits are required for visitors to the Tibetan areas of Sichuan, nor for climbing anything under 6000m.

Our hope is that this site will be a resource for all who are preparing to travel to Tibet, or simply want to understand more about this rich and mysterious culture.
For the second year in a row we had a fabulous time hosting Ron Nickel and his band of aspiring photographers. After hearing the stories and seeing the images from last year’s trip to the Kham region of Eastern Tibet, it was a unanimous decision for them to return. However, not wanting to walk in the exact same steps as the previous year’s trip, they requested a trip to Lhasa and Everest to capture Tibet’s most iconic images. And of course to boast about viewing the highest place on earth!
