Jiuzhaigou In Style

Attention: by choosing this selection, you are paying to book a private room on top of what you have already purchased previously (i.e. paying to not share a bedroom with another tour guest).
Extravagant Yak takes pride in giving special attention to the distinguished tastes of our Executive guests. A glass of Pinot Noir with cheese and crackers on a secluded stretch of trail? Assistance with booking a spa treatment at your hotel following a day in the outdoors? Our team is at your service to make your visit to one of China’s most scenic areas a truly memorable experience.

Jiuzhaigou shares fame only with Lhasa as being one of the “must see” destinations on the Tibetan Plateau. Found in the remote beauty of Northern Sichuan, this scenic wonderland contains perhaps the most breathtaking natural scenery in all of China. In only four days this tour captures both the highlights of this world renowned nature preserve as well as a rich introduction to Tibetan culture. Deriving its name from the nine Tibetan villages scattered throughout this 720 sq. km mountainous area, JiuZhaiGou is actually three scenic valleys that converge to form a wonderland of epic proportions. The variety of foliage, waterfalls, multi-colored lakes, and iridescent pools provides a veritable visual feast for it’s visitors.

Jiuzhaigou National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1992 and boasts more stunning natural beauty than America’s Yosemite National Park. Curling creeks, weeping waterfalls and the songs of over 140 species of birds comprise a subtle symphony of music for your soul. And the opportunity to experience Tibetan hospitality in a stove-warmed living room along with genuine yak butter tea combines to make this an unforgettable experience.

DAY 1 - Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou (flight)

Enjoy a morning flight to Jiuzhaigou to maximize the time enjoyed in this scenic wonderland. Check in at your hotel and enjoy some refreshments before embarking on an exploratory walk around the village to acclimatize and become familiar with your surroundings. A short drive up the valley will be arranged to visit the quaint Tibetan village of Zhangzha for views of the surrounding mountains and a sampling of barley beer. Returning to town, your guide will provide you with some orientation for the following day's adventure in the park over a Chinese dinner.

DAY 2 - Jiuzhaigou National Park

After an international breakfast buffet at your hotel, you'll enjoy an early start to the park to enjoy the morning air. Today you'll head to the furthest end of the park to begin your exploration of Zechawa Valley, beginning with stunning views of Jiuzhaigou's highest, largest, and deepest lake: Long Lake (3150m). The Seasonal Lakes and surrounding ridges will be viewed on the way back down to the intersection of the three valleys where you'll visit in a Tibetan home and have opportunity to taste some yak jerkey and some fresh highland yoghurt. Continuing on to the Shuzheng valley provides a clearer sense of the overwhelming grandeur of these valleys as well as an opportunity to find a secluded spot for a lunch of bagels and cheese with wine. You'll return to the comfort of your hotel in the late afternoon for a well deserved rest.

DAY 3 - Jiuzhaigou National Park

Today you'll explore the remainder of the park, riding the bus to the most secluded point: the head of Rize Valley. From here you'll enjoy a magical stroll through an old growth forest surrounded by stunning cliffs, including the blade-shaped Sword Rock. On the descent from the forest back down toward the convergence of the valleys, the walk follows a meandering boardwalk with rushing creeks, turquoise lakes, and quiet pools. The surrounding beauty invites you to take your time, making it easy to spend most of the day on this valley alone. Lunch will be enjoyed at a scenic and quiet spot along the trail before returning to the Sheraton Resort in the afternoon for your complimentary spa treatment. Following a buffet dinner at the Sheraton, your guide will provide an optional stroll to experience the night life of the village and hunt for a souvenir or two.

DAY 4 - Jiuzhaigou to Chengdu (flight)

Following an early breakfast, a drive south to the historic town of Songpan allows for a stroll through this ancient nomadic trading town. Parts of the wall around the old town date back 600 years to when the locals' lives depended on protecting themselves from invaders. An early lunch will allow time to make it to Jiuzhaigou airport in time for your afternoon flight back to Chengdu.
